HBO’s Hit Series Game Of Thrones Partners with MLB

Yesterday, Major League Baseball announced that 19 teams will participate in promoting the wildly popular TV series, Game Of Thrones. After reaching a series record 8.9 million viewers in the Season 6 finale, fans are anxious to hear when Season 7 will premiere.

Anticipating the release of Game Of Thrones to come sometime this summer, the MLB believes it can successfully market their partnership in the midst of baseball season. In the past,  the MLB has had sponsorships with Star Wars and Marvel, however, the MLB’s EVP of Business Noah Garden seems more optimistic about the advancement of the league’s partnership with HBO. 

“We’ve had a longstanding partnership with HBO…this was something we could do on a much larger scale with a partner we’re much closer to” said Garden. 

Major League Baseball and HBO have had a history of doing business, as HBO Now streaming has been run by MLB’s “BAMtech” platform for years. With the integration of the new partnership with Game Of Thrones, fans can expect to see co-branded merchandise, collectibles, ticket packages, and themed nights later this summer. 

Financial terms have yet to be disclosed, but it has been confirmed that the two sides will split the revenue evenly.

Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays and Washington Nationals.
